Beach waves are one of my absolute favourite hairstyles - and I'm sure I'm not alone. They look natural, casual and yet somehow ‘done’ without looking too styled. Whether for everyday wear or a special occasion, the soft waves are super versatile and instantly add volume and texture to the hair. But anyone who has ever tried to style beach waves themselves knows that it's often not that easy. That's why I was so excited about the new ghd wave - triple barrel curling iron and tested it for you!
What are beach waves - and why do we love them so much?
Beach waves are those soft, wavy curls that look like you've just returned from a holiday by the sea - tousled by the wind and kissed by the sun. They look effortless, cool and feminine at the same time. I think they're particularly perfect in summer because they go with everything - and still look like something even on bad hair days. The best thing: with the right tool, beach waves are also very easy to create at home.

My test: How the ghd Wave performs in everyday life
I was pleasantly surprised as soon as I unpacked it: the Waver is super intuitive to use. Just a single button - that's all you need. The appliance is heated up and ready to style in just a few seconds.
It's as simple as that:
- Prepare your hair with heat protection
- Divide your dry hair into several sections
- Place a narrow strand between the barrels
- Hold for a few seconds - and the waves are ready
- If you like, you can loosen it up a little at the end - simply with your fingers or a brush
Because the styling area is so wide, I'm through really quickly. In just a few minutes, my whole mane was wavy - without any mess or complicated grips.
ghd Wave - The result: shine, texture and hold
I was honestly thrilled! The beach waves looked super natural, had a beautiful bounce and, above all, they really held. Everything was still in shape the next day - without any re-styling or hairspray.

Tip: If you want a little more texture, you can set the whole thing with a light spray - e.g. the ghd curls gone wild texturising spray. Works a treat!

For me, the ghd Wave is a real highlight among styling tools. If you - like me - regularly wear beach waves or simply fancy uncomplicated curl styling, then the tool is definitely worth a look. It's easy to use, super efficient and delivers beautiful, natural results. I will definitely continue to use it - and not just in summer.
