Haarpflegeprodukte von höchster Qualität: Das ist ein Versprechen der Marke Paul Mitchell. Und dieses Versprechen wird erfüllt. Es ist aber keineswegs das einzige, das erfüllt wird. Paul Mitchell ist eine Haarpflegemarke mit hohem Anspruch ans eigene unternehmerische Handeln und hält auch hier ihr Wort.
Das bedeutet etwa: Die gesamte Paul Mitchell Produktpalette besteht aus natürlichen Extrakten und Inhaltsstoffen. Auf Tierversuche verzichtet die Marke schon lange komplett. Sie verkauft unter anderem Haar-Farbschutzsysteme, Shampoos und Trockenshampoos, Conditioner, Styling-Creme und Stylingschaum sowie Bürsten und Haartrockner und hat Produktlinien wie Paul Mitchell und Tea Tree entwickelt.
<h3>Zwei Freunde, eine Vision.</h3>
Die beiden Freunde Paul Mitchell und John Paul DeJoria gründeten in den 80er Jahren John Paul Mitchell Systems. Ihre ersten Produkte? Shampoo ONE, Shampoo TWO und The Conditioner in einem Schwarz-Weiss-Design, das heute als legendär gilt, damals aber einen einfachen Grund hatte: Für ein Farbdesign war schlichtweg nicht genug Geld da. Etwa drei Monate nach der Präsentation der ersten Produkte kam mit der „Hair Sculpting Lotion“ ein weiteres Paul Mitchell Produkte heraus.
Der Verzicht auf Tierversuche gehörte von Beginn an zu den Überzeugungen, von denen das Unternehmen geprägt war. Aktiv ist die Marke Paul Mitchell auch bei der nachhaltigen Produktion von Inhaltsstoffen. So entstand beispielsweise 1983 die solarbetriebene Awapuhi-Farm auf Hawaii, auf der Weisser Ingwer für die Paul Mitchell Produkte angebaut wird. Paul Mitchell starb bereits 1989. Die Marke, die seinen Namen trägt, lebt fort.
<h3>Aktiv auf allen Ebenen</h3>
Paul Mitchell ist nicht nur mit nachhaltig produzierten Haarprodukten aktiv, sondern auch mit einem Sponsoring und vielen Aktivitäten in der Coiffeurbranche. Seit 1992 veranstaltet Paul Mitchell The Gathering als jährliches Treffen von CoiffeurInnen aus aller Welt. 2015 fand das Event erstmals in Madrid und damit ausserhalb der USA statt. Seit 2001 existieren Paul Mitchell Schools für eine professionelle Friseur- und Kosmetikausbildung. Und 2007 startete die globale Kampagne Head For Change mit der Überzeugung, dass jeder Einzelne durch kleine Veränderungen dazu beiträgt, die gesamte Welt zum Besseren zu verändern. Paul Mitchell fördert zudem Projekte wie Food 4 Africa.
