I admit: when it comes to styling my hair, I'm relatively lazy. I blow-dry my hair, but I don't have time for a lot of styling, waves or even a complete blow-dry in my everyday life. Most of the time it's just a plait or I hope that my hair will get a naturally beautiful bend on its own - by magic, so to speak. So I was all the more excited when ghd announced a new revolutionary tool that styles hair from wet to perfect on dry. The new ghd Duet Blowdry is now that miracle tool and I'm here to show you if it lives up to ghd's promise.
ghd Duet Blowdry: What's so special about the 2-in-1 Hair Dryer Brush?
The ghd Duet Blowdry is equipped with Heat-Air-Xchange technology, which ensures a constant temperature of 120°C thanks to the heated plate surface and the gently gliding bristles with controlled airflow. This moderate temperature prevents the hair from suffering heat damage and dries it particularly gently. The result is a very smooth and frizz-free finish.
With the Duet Blowdry dryer, you can dry your hair while brushing and create a blow-dry wave at the same time. You can also gently straighten your hair. Just the way you like it.
Step-by-step to the perfect blow dry with the Duet Blowdry
Before you start, it is important that your hair is towel-dried. It must not be dripping. My favourite products at the moment are from Kevin Murphy.

To prepare for your styling, use the new ghd volumising blowdry cream to add 4x more volume and protect your hair from heat.

Switch on the Duet Blowdry Brush and wait until the control button is no longer illuminated. Then your new tool is ready to go and you can start.

Pin your hair up section by section so that you can work on individual strands. Then start brushing your hair with the brush. Brush along each strand several times and apply a little tension to the strands.

Depending on the style you want, you can hold the brush vertically or twist the hair horizontally inwards or outwards. For extra volume, pull the individual strands against the direction of growth. Dry strand by strand.

Once all the hair is dry, and you're happy with the result, set your new style with the ghd perfect finishing hairspray. This further reduces frizz, provides even better hold and is humidity resistant.

I think the results are really impressive. My hair has so much volume that my partner asks me in the Facetime call whether I've had extensions 😮 Wow, I never thought my hair would look so different. Despite not having a haircut, my hair sits really well and is really shinier than usual. It feels nice and fluffy and silky.
As a hairstyling novice, I have to admit that I needed a bit of practice at the beginning to really style my hair the way I wanted. However, you can go through your hair really hard with the brush and add a certain amount of tension by holding the hair at the ends. This won't damage the hair, but it will give your hairstyle more hold and bounce. You can see how differently you can style your hair in our theme world for the ghd Duet Blowdry. There, professionals show you how the styling works in detail. It's worth a look!
My video on how to use the Duet Blowdry Brush from ghd
The video shows you a quick run-through of how I use the Duet Blowdry Brush. You can also see how I run it along each strand several times to dry it and shape it at the same time. You can really twist the Duet Blowdry Brush right up to the roots. It is not too hot.
My verdict on the Duet Blowdry Brush from ghd
With a little practice, the new ghd tool is really easy to use for styling your hair. It has just one power button, making it a really straightforward styling tool. No frills or gimmicks, and no complicated searching for the right mode. I won't always use it to dry my hair - but if I know I'm going to wear my hair down or want to style for an occasion, the Duet Blowdry Brush will be my hairstyling tool of choice from now on.
