At the end of the year, it's time to counter the darkness outside with a good dose of glitter. While the shops are full of dresses, overalls and even shoes that sparkle all over, you can now add an extra accent with glitter make-up. More is more and that's just right for New Year's Eve, Christmas and all the other big parties this year. I'll show you exactly what the sparkling make-up trends of the moment look like here.
Glitter make-up for eyes and lips
Star make-up artist Pat McGrath has created this dreamy look for Love magazine. Here, the entire face sparkles like a star in different shades. The eye-catchers here are not just the bold eye make-up with bold eyeliner and sparkling light blue shades - the lips also sparkle with the Swarovski crystal worlds. All you need for the glitter make-up on your lips is a lip gloss in the colour of your choice and glitter particles.
First apply the lip gloss and carefully dab the glitter onto your lips with your fingers or a fine brush. If you want an intense colour, you can apply a lipstick as the bottom layer and add the lip gloss on top. We have really good sparkling glitter particles from New York make-up artist Danessa Myricks, for example, but you can also always find them at M-A-C. As a final accent to your glitter make-up, I recommend a shimmering highlighter - for example in the form of Cosmic Drops from MÁDARA.
The classy glitter make-up by Tayor Swift
We've already told you a thing or two about Taylor Swift's looks and how to do her make-up for the Eras tour. Now the uber-superstar shows once again that she simply knows what's trendy! Taylor not only shines with her sparkling earrings, but also with her party dress. If you want to recreate her look for the Christmas party or New Year's Eve party, we have just the thing for you: Face Jewels from VBAUTY.
Start with foundation and co. For Taylor Swift's signature look, you'll definitely need a deep black liquid eyeliner and red lipstick. Plus lip liner to keep your red lips flawless. For the festive glitter make-up, place the Face Jewels above the movable eyelid up to the end of the eyelid line and in the inner corner of the eye.
Glitter Nails
Do you prefer your make-up to be subtle or are you staying at home on New Year's Eve but still want a little sparkle? Then simply make your nails sparkle. Nail polish with glitter particles generally lasts particularly well and you can enjoy the sparkle for a long time. Use a base coat so that you can remove the polish more easily later.
In addition to glitter nail polish, we also have great fake nails that are particularly artistic and last up to 14 days - without the annoying chipping. Or you can opt for peel-off gel polish with a glitter look, for example from mi-ny. Whatever you like, the choice is yours.
Glitter make-up, discreet and unisex
If you prefer a subtle shimmer - for Christmas with the family, for example - I recommend a look like this. With a shimmering eyeliner on the lower and upper lash line, you can conjure up a sparkle in your eyes even before the presents are given. But you can also make a festive and glamorous impression at a relaxed Silver Easter dinner with friends. You can create the look in different ways:
- with an eyeshadow stick
- with classic eyeshadow in a metallic look
- with liquid eyeshadow
- With metallic eyeliner
Shiny hair with a difference: glitter hair
Designer Christian Siriano provides one last piece of inspiration for the party season. For his last runway show, he had the models walk with silver, sparkling strands of hair. You can easily recreate this by styling a front strand with gel and then adding bronze powder or loose glitter particles. Easy to do and a great effect for festive occasions. Why not give it a try?
As you can see, there are numerous variations of glitter make-up. From very subtle to extravagant glam looks, everything is possible - you just have to decide.
