Gründer der Marke Sebastian sind die Fashion-Ikone und Top-Coiffeurin Geri Cusenza und ihr Partner John Sebastian. Die Mission: Mit ihrer Marke wollten die beiden Anfang der 70er Jahre&nbsp; die Flower-Power-Generation mit fearless Hairfashion begeistern. Die stetige Suche nach der nächsten grossen Idee ist ein untrennbarer Teil der Unternehmensphilosophie bei der Marke Sebastian. Mit der Marke kreiert man Styles, die im Rampenlicht ebenso wie auf der Strasse und im Salon zur Geltung kommen. In jedem Jahrzehnt, so beschreibt es die Marke selbst, habe es ein neues Line-up von Sebastian Ikonen gegeben, „die die Grenzen der Haarkreationen testen“. Bereits in ihrer Anfangszeit überzeugt die Avantgarde-Marke mit innovativen Produkten. Zu ihnen gehörte das Sebastian Crimping Iron als begehrtes Tool für heisse Styles, dem später das Sebastian Kreppeisen Crimper nachgefolgt ist. Weitere Innovationen waren Cellophanes als „erste semi-permanente, ammoniakfreie Haarfarbe“, Shaper als erstes Haarspray zur Re-Modellierung von Stylings sowie Potion 9 als erste Kombination eines Styling- und eines Pflegeproduktes.
